Niko-buchi, located in Ino Town, Kochi Prefecture, is a mysterious waterfall nestled quietly along the Edogawa River, a tributary of the Niyodo River. The crystal-clear water changes colour from blue to green depending on the angle of the sun and the season, captivating many visitors as the ‘holy place of Niyodo Blue.’ Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a sacred place where a giant snake, the incarnation of the water god, dwells, and has been carefully preserved by the local community. Therefore, activities such as swimming, eating, drinking, and bringing in trash are prohibited. When visiting, please remain quiet and respect both nature and the sacred beliefs associated with the site. Currently, new walking paths and observation decks have been developed, making it easy to access from the parking lot. Setting your destination to ‘Green Park Chodo’ is convenient. From there, you can reach the enchanting blue world in about 10 minutes.
