【香川】瀬戸内海、大崎の鼻の桜 – [Kagawa] Cherry Blossoms of Osaki no hana, Setouchi

香川県・五色台の北端、大崎ノ鼻。大槌島と小槌島が目の前にみえる岬に数本だけ桜が植えられており、春は綺麗な瀬戸内の風景をみに観光客が訪れています。ちなみに、海に突出した地形を「鼻」と呼びます。

Osaki-no-Hana, at the northern tip of Goshikidai in Kagawa Prefecture. Just a few cherry trees have been planted on this headland, from which Otsuchi Island and Kotsuchi Island can be seen directly ahead; in spring, tourists visit to admire the beautiful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. Incidentally, a piece of land jutting out into the sea is known as a ‘hana’ (nose).

大崎ノ鼻は、瀬戸内海で最も狭い約9kmの海峡に面した、五色台北端の景勝地です。目の前には、おむすび型の無人島である大槌島（おおづちじま）・小槌島（こづちじま）が浮かび、この一帯は「槌ノ戸瀬戸（つちのとせと）」と呼ばれます。本州と四国が最も近づく海域で、古くから好漁場として知られています。

Osaki-no-Hana is a scenic spot at the northern tip of Goshiki-dai, facing the Seto Inland Sea’s narrowest strait, which is approximately 9 km wide. Directly ahead lie the uninhabited islands of Ōzuchi-jima and Kozuchi-jima, which resemble rice balls, and this area is known as ‘Tsuchi-no-to Seto’. It is the point where Honshu and Shikoku come closest to one another, and has long been renowned as a prime fishing ground.

瀬戸内海で幅約9kmともっとも狭い海峡で、坂出側五色台の北端が大崎ノ鼻です。 ここから見えるおむすび型の島、大槌島・小槌島はいずれも無人島です。2島は「槌ノ戸瀬戸」とよばれ、本州と四国が最も接近した海域にあることなどから古くから良い漁場として知られています。

菜切祥生によると「鼻」は「埼」や「碕」と同じく、「岬」よりも小規模な地形に付けられている。
水面などに突き出た地形を指す「岬」は日本での用法であるが、中国語ではこの意味は、「角」の字で表す事が多い。他に、「咀」・「嘴」（尖沙咀など）、「鼻」（鵝鑾鼻など）の字が当てられることもある。中国語にも「岬 jiă」という字があるが、日本語でいう「谷」の場所に使われた。現在も福建省の地名にわずかに用例がある。日本と同じ意味では山東省の「成山岬」（成山頭）などの用例があった。また、解剖学で身体の突起部分（「骶岬」、「鼓室岬」など）にも使うが、日本語の「岬部」などの言い方を取り入れた用法と考えられる。

日本固有の用法である「岬」のことを、韓国語や朝鮮語ではこの意味を「串」の字で表す。長山串（チャンサンゴッ（チャンサン岬）、北朝鮮、黄海南道長淵郡）や長鬐串（チャンギゴッ（チャンギ岬）、韓国・慶尚北道浦項市）が代表的な「串」（日本でいう「岬」）として知られている。
