お遍路さんの喉を潤す飯田桃園 – Iida Peach Garden, a thirst-quencher for pilgrims.

香川県さぬき市造田で代々、13種類の桃と12種類のスモモを育てている『飯田桃園』さん。飯田家は、1000年以上前、平安時代からこの造田の「ひうら（日の当たる穏やかな場所の意味）」に住んでいる記録があるそう。86番志度寺から87番長尾寺へ向かう遍路道に飯田桃園の販売所があるので、これまで多くのお遍路さんの喉を潤してきたに違いありません。

Iida Peach Orchard grows 13 varieties of peaches and 12 varieties of plums in Zoda, Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture, for generations. The Iida family has a record of living in Hiura (meaning a peaceful place in the sun) in this Zota area since the Heian period, over 1,000 years ago. The Iida Momo-en sales outlet is located on the pilgrimage route from Shikoku Pilgrimage No. 86 Shidoji to No. 87 Nagaoji, and has quenched the thirst of many pilgrims.
