彫刻家の作る生きた壁と、日本初の緑青銅板仕上げの建築『百十四銀行本店』 – The green wall and 114th Bank at Kagawa pref.

高松市の中央通を走っていると中央公園の緑の向かいに緑青のブロンズ板で覆われたひときわ目立つ建築物が目に入ります。この百十四銀行本店の建築は、1966年の建設当時、西日本で一番高いビルで、緑青のブロンズ板で仕上げる建築は日本で初めてでした。歴史を感じさせる緑青の錆でありながら、向かいの公園や駐車場の緑の壁面緑化によって、なんとなく優しい印象のある建築です。高松に来られた際に、丹下健三さんの香川県庁舎と、さか枝の早朝うどんとあわせてご覧ください。

The architecture of 114 Bank is copperish green building. You can see the architecture along the main street of Takamatsu city. Although rusty bronze facade make me feel the history, I have an image of being gentle by blending green wall and central park of Takamatsu city. The facade of rusty bronze plate blend parks, green belts, and walkways with the city landscape.
