霧に包まれた島々 – islands in a fog

俳句で「霧」というと秋の季語ですが、
瀬戸内海では、春から梅雨にかけて霧が多くなります。
ちょうど私がはじめて瀬戸大橋を渡った３年前もこんな天気でした。
霧に包まれた島々の風景も幻想的で好きです。

濃霧のときは瀬戸内海のフェリーに多くの欠航がでます。

The word “fog” in Haiku (Japanese seventeen-syllable poem) means that it is in autumn. In foggy season, You can enjoy this fantastic scenery of Seto Inland Sea.
When I came to Shikoku crossing Seto-ohashi Bridge, the weather was like this.

秋に多い一般的な霧は、昼間に暖められた空気が、夜に冷やされ発生する「放射霧」で、
瀬戸内海でこの季節に発生する霧の多くは「移流霧 (いりゅうぎり)」という別の種類の霧です。
移流霧は、暖かく湿った空気が、冷たい地面や海面上に運ばれて発生します。

General fog is often seen in autumn. It is called “ground fog” which is generated by cooling at night. Fog which is often seen at Seto Inland Sea in this season is called “advection fog”. Warm moisture-laden air move on the cool surface of the land or sea, and the fog is generated.

船の航行にとってこの霧は厄介で、「時化（しけ）は極楽濃霧は地獄」という言葉が昔からあるほどです。
視程が500m以下になると停船勧告がだされます。
