Regent Street. The Regent Street Christmas lights remain on show until 6th January 2009
せっかくなので、ロンドンのクリスマイルミネーションをメモ。
こういうショーウィンドウやデコレーションは舞台美術の参考になります。
仕事しているのがロンドンのGreenParkという中心街よりやや西側に位置しているので、
帰り道、そこから少し歩いて撮った写真です。
不景気ということもあって、去年よりもだいぶと落ち着いた印象です。
ちなみに、写真の順序は撮った順番とは逆なので、
中心街のリージェント・ストリートから西側に紹介してゆきます。

Richard James, 29 Savile Row, London.
カラフルな細長ライトをガラス越しに並べる。
このお店は、周辺があまり派手ではなかったのでやや目立っていた。

Bulgari (BVLGARI), 168 New Bond Street, Mayfair, London
ブルガリ。ここのが一番品があって好きです。
両サイドに白い飾り木を連ねて、そこに電球を配置する。
イソギンチャクの触手が光っているよう。
ちなみに、「BVLGARI」という表記は、古代アルファベットに「J」「U」「W」の3文字が無く、
中世まで「U」は「V」と区別されていなかったことから、
あえて当時の表記法に従ったものである。

カルティエ。建物上階のバルコニーをライティング。
あまりブランドは詳しくないのですが、
カルティの象徴でもあるパンテールはフランス語で「ヒョウ」のことなので、
たぶんヒョウかと思われます。

Boodles, 178 New Bond St, London
その隣のBoodles。縦に三本のストライプ。
こうやってみていくと、クリスマスライトは
建物の形状をどう生かすかが重要なのがよくわかります。

Tiffany & Co Jewellers London (Mayfair), 25 Old Bond Street, Mayfair, London
ティファニー。窓枠をブルーのライトで飾っています。
ティファニーのカンパニーカラーは1837年から使用されている
ティファニー・ブルー（TIFFANY BLUE/TIFFANY BLUE BOX）。

London Christmas Lights: Old Bond Street.
ブランドショップがならぶOld Bond Street。
プレゼントのリボンのような飾り。トンボのようにも蝶々のようにもみえます。

Mayfair, London
暖簾のようなデザイン。モチーフはよくわかりません。
ちょっとだけ中国の旧正月の飾りにも似ています。

Regent Street Christmas Lights
It isn’t officially Christmas until the lights come on and you can be sure to find some of the most spectacular Christmas lights in London at Regent Street. Celebrate the festive season beneath the glow of the Regent Street Christmas lights, switched on at 6pm on Thursday 6th November.
Dazzling Lights in Regent Street
This year’s Regent Street Christmas lights are sure to be another spectacular creation that will light up the sky around Regent Street. The Christmas lights will follow the theme Wish Upon a Star and will no doubt attract thousands of shoppers throughout the festive season, making for one of the major tourist attractions in London this Christmas.
Star appearances at Regent Street
The Regent Street Christmas lights switch on has a history of attracting some of the worlds most celebrated stars, and 2008 is no exception. World famous pop band McFly will flick the switch this year, as Regent Street is transformed into a winter wonderland for lucky Londoners. There will be plenty to keep you entertained before the main event. Hollyoaks star John Pickard, who plays Dominic Reilly in the popular soap, will MC the event and is sure to get the crowd excited. Whilst The London Community Gospel Choir will also perform several songs to get you into the festive spirit.
