【香川】あじさい神社に映える3000株の紫陽花。観音寺・粟井(あわい)神社 – [Kagawa] The Hydrangeas shrine

粟井神社、あじさい祭りは、2024年6月8日（土）〜16日（日）に開催されます。

あじさい神社として有名な香川県観音寺市の「粟井神社（あわいじんじゃ）」。讃岐国延喜式内名神大社として、1000年以上の歴史のある讃岐屈指の古い神社です。境内には約3000株の紫陽花が植えられていて「あじさいの宮」や「あじさい神社」と呼ばれています。傘に当たる雨音を想像しながら静かな気持ちでご覧ください。あじさいの見頃は6月中旬頃です。

Awai Shrine in Kanonji City, Kagawa pref. is famous for its hydrangea shrine. As one of the oldest shrines in Sanuki Province, Awai Shrine is one of the oldest shrines in Sanuki with a history of more than 1,000 years. The grounds are planted with approximately 3,000 hydrangea plants and are known as the ‘hydrangea shrine’ or ‘hydrangea shrine’. Please view them in peace and quiet, imagining the sound of rain hitting your umbrella. The best time to see the hydrangeas is around mid-June.

粟井（あわい）神社は、別名「あじさいの宮」「アジサイ神社」と呼ばれ、
毎年、梅雨の季節になると多くの人の目を楽しませてくれます。

Awai shrine, otherwise known as ‘hydrangea shrine,’ is famous for hydrangeas in the grounds of shrine. In rainy season, a lot of people enjoy that every year.

神社が建てられた時期は不明で、讃岐忌部（さぬきいんべ）氏がこの地を開墾したとき、
氏神の天太玉命(あめのふとだまのみこと) を祀ったのがはじまりとされていることから、
かなり古い神社のようです。
It’s not known exactly when the shrine built at the place. It is said that Sanuki Inbe dedicated the god “Amano Futodama no Mikoto”. The shrine has long history.

そういえば、お隣三豊市の忌部神社のあたりに地元では「御本祖さん」と呼ばれる
「御本祖古墳」(三豊市豊中町大字笠田竹田974番地)があり、
この地域に最初に来た讃岐忌部の先祖が眠っていると考えられているので、
想像するにその時代でしょうか。
