高松市歴史資料館の展覧会『かわいい展 江戸→令和』のトークイベントにて、「かわいい」をテーマにお話させていただきました。Youtubeで講演内容がアップロードされましたのでお知らせします。

高松市歴史資料館にて9月3日（日）まで「かわいい」をテーマにした展覧会『かわいい展 江戸→令和』が開催されています。8月26日（土）に講演会でお話させていただきます。「かわいい」とは何かについて思いを巡らせています。

Webメディア「物語を届けるしごと」では、四国の農山漁村や瀬戸内の離島にある美しい風景や文化を世界に発信しています。その取材の過程で出会った「かわいい」場所やモノを紹介させていただきます。 「かわいい」の語源は、「顔映ゆし（かほはゆし）」で顔を向けていられないという意味から来ています。 元来、「不憫だ」とか「気の毒だ」という意味の言葉だった「かわいい」という言葉が、正反対の「愛らしい」に変わったのは中世後半。「かわいい」とはいったい何なのか考えながら、高松市の魅力を掘り起こしていきたいと思います。

An exhibition on the theme of ‘kawaii’, ‘Kawaii Exhibition: Edo → Reiwa’, is being held at the Takamatsu City History Museum until 3 Sept. I will be speaking at a lecture on Saturday, 26 Aug. I am pondering what ‘kawaii’ means.

The web media ‘Monogatari wo Todokeru Shigoto’ (Work to Deliver Stories) transmits to the world the beautiful scenery and culture of the farming, mountain and fishing villages of Shikoku and the remote islands of the Seto Inland Sea. We would like to introduce some of the ‘cute’ places and things we have encountered in the course of our coverage. The word ‘kawaii’ originates from ‘kaho ha yushi’, meaning that you can’t turn your head. Originally meaning ‘pity’ or ‘sorry’, the word ‘kawaii’ was changed to its opposite, ‘adorable’, in the late Middle Ages. We would like to explore the charms of Takamatsu City while considering what exactly ‘kawaii’ means.

収蔵品展「かわいい展 江戸→令和」｜高松市

「かわいい」。この言葉ほど身近で、難しい言葉はないでしょう。「かわいい」は十人十色。ひとりひとりにちがった「かわいい」の基準があります。今回の展示では、「かわいい」から連想される「丸い」「ゆるい」「レトロ」「ポップ」の4つのキーワードを軸に、当館の収蔵品を紹介します。「かわいい」が、歴史的な流れのなかでつくられ、あつめられ、語られてきた数々の資料の新たな魅力を発見するきっかけとなれば幸いです。
