郷土料理「なすのたたき」は、文化庁「100年フード」に認定。廓中(かちゅう)ふるさと館などで提供されています。信州大学やJA高知県の研究で「コリンエステル」という成分が、高血圧と気分の改善効果があることを発見。2020年9月、世界初、ナスが消費者庁の機能性表示食品として認められました。

Today 31 August is Vegetable Day. Aki City in Kochi Prefecture is Japan’s largest producer of winter-spring aubergines! The local dish ‘aubergine tataki’ has been recognised as a ‘100-year food’ by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. It is served at Kachu Furusato Kan and other places. Research by Shinshu University and JA Kochi discovered that a component called ‘choline ester’ has the effect of improving high blood pressure and mood; in September 2020, eggplants were recognised as a functional food by the Consumer Affairs Agency for the first time in the world.
