フラットランドつながりで、ちょっと前に小林さんと話していた、
ハーバード大学の理論物理学者 リサランドールさんをメモ。
平面世界からみた三次元世界の見え方示しているフラットランドを用いて、
私たちの住む三次元世界からみた五次元世界を説明しています。
数式の上でなりたつ理論物理学を、
イラストや小説などを交えながら数式を用いずに
一般の人でも理解できるようにわかりやすく解説しているワープする宇宙。
僕はまだ日本語版は、立ち読みしかしてないのですが、ぜひ読みたい一冊。
専門家の世界で留まりがちなこういう話を、
一般の人にも理解してもらおうとするこういう姿勢はほんと素晴らしいと思います。
