大島のカフェ・シヨル – cafe SHIYORU Art for the Hospital Project

大島でとれた野菜や果物が食べられるカフェ・シヨル。
一時期、お休みされていましたが、
瀬戸内国際芸術祭のボランティアサポーター
こえび隊の皆さんの協力のもと復活しました。
季節の飲み物は、文旦ヨーグルトと文旦サワードリンク。
島で採れた野菜や果物を使ったスイーツなどを頂くことができます。

この島でたくさんの笑顔をつくってきたやさしいお店。
ぜひ、この機会に足を運んで、島の美味しい食、温かい空気に触れてみてください。

全国に13箇所にある国立療養所のうち唯一、
離島にある国立ハンセン病療養所「大島青松園」
ここが瀬戸内国際芸術祭の会場になっているということは、
大きな意義があることだと思います。
瀬戸内国際芸術祭で会場になっている島の中でも
ひときわ特別な意味をもっているので、ぜひ足を運んでほしい島です。

Floating about 8 kilometers northeast of Takamatsu, Oshima is a small island with an area of 0.62 km2 and a coastline of 7.2 km. Once two separate islands, it was connected by a sandbar to become one. A long time ago it was the stage of a battle during the Genpei War, and it is said that an old forest filled with pine trees that served as grave markers of the Taira Clan heroes, who lost at the Battle of Yashima, still exists on the island’s west coast.

大島の綺麗な海を知ってほしくてGIFアニメーションにしてみました。
動画にしてもやっぱり現地に行かないと伝わらないけど、それくらいがちょうどいいなと思っています。

ハンセン病は感染力が極めて弱く、いまでは治療法も確立されているのですが、
誤った知識から差別の対象となり「らい予防法」という国の法律により
この島に隔離され、子孫を残すことも禁止されました。

In 1909, a sanitarium was established for people suffering from Hansen’s Disease (leprosy), and in 1946 it was given the new name of The National Oshima Sanitarium Green Pine Garden. For a long time, the patients of the sanitarium were forced into quarantine on the island due to the government’s wrong policies stemming from social biases and prejudices against Hansen’s Disease. The Precautionary Measures Act, which called for this forced quarantine, was repealed in 1996, and the Basic Law Concerning the Hansen’s Disease Problem was established in 2008.

その後、この法律は廃止され
ようやく1996年になってこの療養所が外に向けてオープンになり、
現在では、平均年齢は80歳以上、80人の入所者が暮らしています。

そんな、香川県の大島にて、11月2日（土）～4日（月）には「カフェ・シヨル」がオープンしているそうです。
カフェ･シヨルでは､大島で採れた新鮮な野菜や果物をふんだんに使ったケーキや料理が、
大島の土で焼いた器で味わうことができます。
少しでも多くの人にこの島の存在を知ってほしいと思ったのでメモしておきます。

Currently, support for the treatment and assistance of the patients as well as educational activities for proper understanding of Hansen’s Disease are being conducted at the Green Pine Garden.

｛Tsunagari no Ie｝cafe SHIYORU
The Art for Hospital Project is implementing a variety of activities to deepen interactions with residents of this former sanatorium for Hansen’s disease. Café Shioru serves dishes made with plenty of island-grown ingredients and the food is served on Oshima-clay pottery fired on the island.

下記は、2013年10月27日（日）に行われたあおぞら市の様子です。
大島には、島の皆さんによる陶芸クラブやアクセサリーをつくる七宝クラブがあり、
ここで作られた創作活動を通じて交流がしたいという島の方からの声ではじまったお祭りです。
