コボちゃんで有名な、漫画家・植田まさしさん（1947年5月27日東京生まれ）。幼少期、父の実家がある香川県木田郡三木町で育ちました。
石の民俗資料館（香川県高松市牟礼）には源平屋島の合戦で活躍した弓の名手、那須与一の扇の的伝説を描いた植田さんのイラストがあります。

Manga artist – Masashi Ueda (born 27 May 1947 in Tokyo), famous for his Kobo-chan. As a child, he grew up in Miki-machi, Kida-gun, Kagawa Prefecture, where his father’s family lived.
The Stone Folk Museum (Mure, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture) has an illustration by Ueda depicting the legend of the fan target of Nasu Yoichi, a master archer who played an active role in the Genpei Yashima Battle.

Kobo, the Li’l Rascal, also known as Kobo-chan (コボちゃん), is a manga created by Masashi Ueda. Kodansha published three volumes of the manga as a bilingual Japanese-English editions, and Kodansha America distributed the book in the United States.

Kobo-chan began publication in the newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun on April 1, 1982. Beginning in December of that year, Soyosha published the series in book form. Nippon Television began airing the Kobo-chan strip on television on September 15, 1990. The weekly anime series ran on that channel from October 19, 1992, to March 21, 1994. Yomiuri had published 6,000 Kobo-chan strips by March 1999. Soyosha published Volume 60 on October 22, 2003. Houbunsha began publishing volumes on May 6, 2004. Its most recently volume, the 40th, was published on February 7, 2018.

Nasu no Yoichi (那須 与一, Nasu no Yoichi) (c. 1169 – c. 1232) was a samurai who fought alongside the Minamoto clan in the Genpei War. He is particularly famous for his actions at the Battle of Yashima in 1185. According to the Heike Monogatari, the enemy Taira placed a fan atop a pole on one of their ships, daring the Minamoto warriors to shoot it off. Sitting atop his mount in the waves, his target atop the ship rocking as well, Nasu nevertheless shot it down with only one shot.

『コボちゃん』は、植田まさしによる日本の4コマ漫画作品である。1982年より読売新聞で連載開始。1992年から1994年まで、読売テレビ・日本テレビ系列でアニメ化（制作：エイケン）もされた（全63回）。2016年には連載1万回を記念し、本作を題材とした絵本が出版された。

2021年1月7日にはこれまでの最多であった「アサッテ君」（作：東海林さだお）の通算回数13749話を超え、通算13750話に達した。

植田が前立腺がんと診断され、治療に専念していたことにより、2022年6月19日から休載、同年8月5日から傑作選として過去作品を再掲載していた。2023年3月1日から連載が再開された。
