【全国大会日本一！】高知県本山町の天空の棚田米 Motoyama, terraced rice fields

2016年12月1日（木）に開催された「第13回お米日本一コンテスト」で、
高知県本山町の「土佐天空の郷（品種：にこまる）」が2度目の日本一。
最高位（実行委員会会長賞）を獲得しました！おめでとうございます。

お米の産地というと、新潟県や秋田県など比較的、寒冷地を想像します。
「お米日本一コンテスト」という名前のそのまま、日本一のお米を決めるお米の殿堂があります。
実際、過去の受賞リストをみると関西圏のお米はほとんどランキングに登場しません。

The leading producers of rice are located at North-side of Japan, like Nigata pref., Akita pref. and so on. “The best Japanese rice contest” is the contest to find the best rice of the year in Japan. I can not find the name of rice in the Kansai region (the western region of Japan) in the ranking.

それが、なんと2010年のコンテストで
高知県の高知県本山町のお米「土佐天空の郷」が最優秀賞を受賞したのです。
これは業界では当たり前となっていた常識を覆す前代未聞の出来事でした。
そのお米を育む本山町の美しい棚田の風景を撮って来ました。

However, the rice in Motoyama town, Kochi pref., “Tenku no Sato (villge in the sky)” got the top prize of the contest 2010! It was unprecedentedness happening which defied the common wisdom that good production regions of rice were located at northern Japan. Tanada （terraced rice paddies along steep hills） is just one example of beautiful Japanese scenery. I took some photographs there.
