だいぶ昔にICCでみて感動した作品を
環境情報系アートつながりで改めてメモしておきます。
天井から床に音源に繋がれた電磁誘導線が張り巡らされている。
鑑賞者は電磁誘導コイルの入ったヘッドフォンをつけてその音を聞くという作品。
その音は直接、耳では聞こえないのですが、
左右の音の違いをつかって空間に潜む音を探す。
文章で書くと何が面白いのか伝わりにくいので、
ぜひ、もう一度日本で公開してほしい。
これはかなりいろいろな展開可能性を孕んでいる作品だと思うのです。
重要なのは、ヘッドフォンという道具を通して、
人々が能動的に音を探して歩く、つまり「耳を傾ける」という行為を誘発している点です。
環境情報を顕在化させるタイプの作品は、
行過ぎると逆に人の想像力を奪い、鑑賞者が受動的になってしまいがちなのですが、
この作品はそのあたりのバランスが非常にうまく設計されていると思いました。
