The ‘Niyodo River Paper Koinobori’ event, held around Namikawa Park in Ino Town, Kochi Prefecture, features around 200 koinobori (carp streamers) made from the region’s speciality non-woven fabric, which appear to swim in the clear waters of the Niyodo River. The event was launched in 1995 to promote the local area. Having resumed following the COVID-19 pandemic, it now attracts large crowds of visitors. The venue offers a wealth of family-friendly activities, including a treasure hunt, a sweetfish fishing competition, musical performances and gifts of underwater carp streamers. The event can be enjoyed from various vantage points, such as the bridge and the riverbank, allowing visitors to experience the beautiful scenery of the Niyodo River and the charm of the local area.

Five-coloured stones. The upper reaches of the Niyodo River are characterised by the complex strata unique to the Shikoku Mountains. This region was formed by the collision of tectonic plates, and
・Green stones (such as green schist)
・White stones (such as quartz)
・Dark-coloured stones (such as mudstone and chert)
・Red and brown stones (rocks containing iron)
—rocks differing in both colour and composition—are found intermingled here.
