【高知 5/1閉館】海中天然ミュージアム足摺海底館 – [Kochi 1st May- closed] Ashizuri Underwater Museum

足摺海底館は、1972年に開館した海中展望施設で、「海中を歩くように観察できる」ユニークな観光施設として人気を集め、累計600万人以上が来館しました。2022年には国の登録有形文化財に登録されています。

一方で近年は老朽化が進み、2025年にはウニによる浸食で壁に穴が開き浸水するトラブルも発生しました。さらに連絡橋の劣化など安全面の課題があり、今後の観光客増加（大河ドラマ「ジョン万」放送決定 / 2026年4月9日）を見据え、安全確保のため2026年5月1日から当面休館することが決定されています。

The Ashizuri Underwater Observatory, which opened in 1972, is an underwater viewing facility that has gained popularity as a unique tourist attraction where visitors can ‘observe the underwater world as if walking through it’, attracting over 6 million visitors to date. In 2022, it was designated as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property.

However, the facility has deteriorated in recent years, and in 2025, a problem arose where sea urchins eroded the walls, causing holes and flooding. Furthermore, there are safety concerns, such as the deterioration of the connecting bridge. In anticipation of an increase in visitors (following the announcement of a NHK Taiga drama series), it has been decided that the facility will close for the time being from 1 May 2026 to ensure safety.
