100万人のキャンドルナイト – Candle Night summer/winter solstice

　日程：毎年、夏至と冬至
　受 賞：グッドデザイン賞 2004 新領域部門 受賞

毎年、夏至・冬至に世界各地からの参加者を募る市民主導型のイベント。2003年の夏至にはじめて開催され、2004年の夏至には、全国6065ヶ所の施設が消灯し、日本全国で650万人（推計）が参加したとの環境省の発表もあり、3日間にわたり各地でさまざまなキャンドルナイトが演出された。

Candle Night is the event produced by various people in the world at every summer/winter solstice. It was held for the first time in the summer solstice of 2003. According to environment ministry’s report, 6065 facilities turned off their light, and 6.5 million people (estimate) participated at the summer solstice of 2004. And various candle nights were produced for three days in various places.
