四国食べる通信の取材で四国の西端、
日本一細長い半島でもある佐多岬半島の柑橘農家
溜池さんを訪れました。
松山から車で2時間、高松からは3時間半。
決してアクセスの良くない場所でありながら、
過疎や高齢といった悲壮感漂う農業の現場とは程遠く、
素敵な笑顔の溜池さん。

その笑顔の背景には、除草剤を使わず木のもっている
本来の生命力を引き出しつくる
本当に美味しい柑橘にたいする力強い自信が感じられました。

東京のマルシェやネット販売でもとてもファンが多いそうです。
まだ柑橘の季節ではないので、今回の取材では溜池さんのつくる柑橘をいただけませんでした。
この冬、溜池さんのつくる柑橘を食べるのが楽しみです。

佐多岬は冬の季節風がかなり強く台風並み。
そのままだと、みかんの木の葉が全部飛んでいってしまうほどの風なので、
防風垣として、槇や杉の木を植えています。
