諸事情により、明日よりBOOK MARUTEは長期休業をいただきます。 また、2/1から開催しておりました「てらおかなつみのたくさんの犬展 in 香川」ですが、長期休業に伴い中止とさせていただきます。 楽しみにしていただいた皆さまには、大変申し訳ございません。 多大なご迷惑をおかけしますが、何卒よろしくお願いします。

There is a small bookshop with a café in Kitahama Alley, an old warehouse street facing the ocean that is approximately a 10-minute walk from Takamatsu Station and Takamatsu Port. The bookshop mainly offers art books from all over the world, newly published photo books and zines. It also has a gallery on its property. Many tourists who love art, including overseas tourists, visit this bookshop for its select books.
Art books that are not offered at many large bookshops are also available at BOOK MARÜTE. You can also find valuable first editions here. The bookshop decorated with ornamental plants has a natural atmosphere. It also has a café space inside. If you find an art book that interests you, appreciate it as long as you like, right then and there. (Experience Takamatsu)

写真家でもある店長の小倉快子さんは、以前、友人に贈り物を考えていて立ち寄った本屋で、店員さんに薦めてもらった写真集が、ぴったりのセレクトで感動したのだとか。

東京の出版社で写真に関わる仕事をしてきた小倉さんは、その経験から、いつか自分も誰かの贈り物を提案する、本のコンシェルジュができるお店を開きたいと夢を持ち香川に移住してきて、いろんな大人の人達に助けられながらあっという間にお店を立ち上げるにいたりました。こういう時、手を差し伸べる大人たちがたくさんいる地域ってスゴイなって思います。誰か大切な人に贈り物を考えているかたは、ぜひBOOK MARUTEで店員さんに相談してみてください。

高松駅から徒歩10分、海辺の倉庫街 北浜アリー。
雑貨やカフェ、BARや子供服のお店など素敵なお店が集まっています。

高松港からフェリーで20分。鬼ヶ島（女木島）がみえます。

一階はガレージになっておりMARUTEの古道具やレトロな車が置かれています。

階段をあがり二階へ。奥が人気のカフェ「umie」です。
こちらもオススメ。

もともとオーナーの小笠原さんが古道具屋をしていたので、
店内のアンティークの家具や道具なども見どころです。

ちなみに小倉さん、以前私も編集協力させていただいた雑誌 BRUTUSの島特集の
男木島の記事がきっかけになり、高松に移住することを決めたのだとか。
こうして、自分たちの発した小さな波紋がきっかけになり、
誰かの心に響いいて、訪ねてきてくれるのはとても嬉しいことです。

店内では、美味しい珈琲やハーブティを飲むこともできます。
瀬戸内の島旅のおみやげぴったりな写真がならんでいます。

Kitahama Alley | Japan Travel Guide

Kitahama Alley is a big commercial complex at Kitahama District in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. It attracts many visitors, especially trend-conscious young people. Originally, Kitahama Alley was four warehouses for crops which were built about eighty years ago.Takamatsu Port was a busy commercial harbor where many cargo ships stopped. But after Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Project had finished, the warehouses were renovated to a commercial complex. Kitahama Alley was made in 2000. The rusty exterior tells you the old days when the place was made and used as grain warehouse. But inside the buildings, there are fancy shops, cafes, restaurants, and galleries. Each shop has fashionable interior which is full of good decoration. The center of Kitahama Alley is Brick Square. Flea market, concerts, and other events often take place here. Outside windows, you see ships on Seto Inland Sea and gulls flying in the sky. Kitahama Alley brews nostalgic atmosphere but at the same time, the latest trend exists, too.
