香川県に唯一残る、戦前の港湾事務所「旧坂出港務所」 – The old Sakaide port office

瀬戸大橋のたもと、香川県の坂出港にぽつんと洋風の建物が残されています。
高松港にあった「旧高松港管理事務所」は取り壊されてしまったので、
香川県にはこの「旧坂出港務所」が唯一のこされた戦前の港湾事務所だそうです。

A western style building left at Sakaide port near Seto Big Bridge. Because the Takamatsu port office was pull down, this architecture is the oldest port office which was constructed before the war in Kagawa pref..

塔屋上部のドームやメダリオンや付柱（つけばしら）などの
古典様式の装飾をみることができます。
You can see the decorations on the building like dome, medallion and pilasters.

坂出港は、戦後に塩田跡地に重化学工業が発展し、
四国一の貨物取引高を誇る一大拠点となりました。
After the war, heavy and chemical industry developed at Sakaide. The port had the largest the gross trading volume in Shikoku.

香川県随一の工業都市であった坂出の物流を支えた建物がこの「旧坂出港務所」です。
当時は、港務事務所だけでなく、
港に就航していた大阪商船航路の切符売場として使用されていたそうです。
This port office had supported industrial Sakaide city. This architecture was used not only for port office but also ticket office.
